Overview

Bombardier in Denmark

In Denmark Bombardier Transportation focuses on railways. The Danish company has approximately 275 employees, divided between the Divisions Rail Control Solutions in Copenhagen and Services in Randers.

Bombardier Transportation Denmark A/S is an international engineering company with dedicated and committed employees. The company is involved in the design, development and implementation of modern signalling systems based on the new European standards, such as ERTMS, to enable efficient use of the railway infrastructure.

As a supplier to the Danish railway network we have built up an invaluable base of local knowledge about the Danish railway systems. Our mainline systems ensure that trains cross the Great Belt and Oresund safely and enable railways to run smoothly and reliably across cities and countryside.

The history for Bombardier Transportation Denmark A/S goes back to 1861 although the company was not given its current name until 2001.

The train factory in Randers was established in 1861 by the UK company Peto, Brassey & Betts in cooperation with the Danish State. Over the course of its history, the Randers sites has produced many trains for the Danish State Railways, like the IC3 diesel multiple units.

Today the facility is involved in renovating and modernising of train material, carrying out fleet maintenance, repairing broken down trains, selling and delivering spare parts and developing and mounting of traction modules for diesel trains.

In 1930 the Rail Control Solutions division started under the name Dansk Signal Industri (DSI). Within a few years the company became the main supplier of components and systems for interlocking and centralized traffic control systems to Banedanmark, and has maintained that status for the last 80 years.

Bombardier Aerospace is also present in Denmark. The fleet of Bombardier-manufactured commercial aircraft in Denmark includes 12 CRJ900 NextGen aircraft which are in service with SAS and based in Copenhagen, and 13 CRJ200 aircraft being operated by Cimber Sterling. As part of Bombardier Commercial Aircraft's worldwide customer support network, a Field Service Representative is currently based in Copenhagen.
